Director Jordyn Lemire was accepted into Decidedly Jazz Danceworks' Creative Arts Residency program in November of 2023. She was granted 89 hours in residence, and chose to create the show she'd always dreamt of. In March 2024, Jordyn brought together eight other dancers from around Western Canada to create her first tap dance concert,

'Paying the Dues'. This concert was presented on Vancouver and Calgary stages in August that same year. The dancers created inseparable bonds during this experience, and thus created the
89 Hours Tap Project. The dancers are eager to reunite in California at the OC Tap Fest, where they will present an excerpt of Paying the Dues in the Up Next at the Fest showcase.
